Bilingual (English/French) Psychotherapist

Karen Liivoja, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Hi, I’m Karen—a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), Clinical Director, and lifelong educator. For over 25 years, I’ve supported individuals and families through change, growth, and challenge. My work has always been about listening deeply, adapting with care, and creating space for people to feel seen. That same spirit guides my approach in the therapy room today.

I bring empathy, curiosity, and deep respect to every session. Therapy is a collaborative process—where your voice matters and your story is honored. My integrative approach draws from proven methods like CBT, ACT, DBT, and EFT, always tailored to meet you where you are and offer practical, meaningful support for your healing and growth.

I hold a Master of Science in Education (Medaille University, 2013) and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (Yorkville University, 2025), and I work with preteens, teens, and adults navigating grief, anxiety, identity shifts, and relationship challenges. I’m also certified in SafeTALK and ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training), and have completed Violence Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA) training through the Center for Trauma Informed Practice. These certifications reflect my commitment to safety, trauma-informed care, and early intervention—especially in moments of crisis or vulnerability.

I offer services in both English and French, creating space for clients to express themselves in the language that feels most natural and supportive.

Our work together is grounded in warmth, respect, and curiosity. Therapy isn’t about fixing—it’s about understanding, growing, and finding what truly supports you. I draw from a range of approaches to meet you where you are and help you move toward change that feels meaningful and lasting.
